Good comedy is something that makes you laugh with realization. By his definition, someone like Carlos Mencia is a bad comedian because he relies on old tropes and stereotypes to make his audience laugh. Someone like Dimitri Martin is the opposite, he composes clever sentences to make the audience laugh. Geeks are naturally funny.
