In some way, the rings would glow when they were near each other. You could go Lord of The Rings style with glowing inscriptions, you could have a soft blue glow emanate from inside the band, whatever. They’d have little RFID chips and readers in them, so they can pick up on when the other ring is nearby.
They’d either charge by using the oscillations of the wearer’s arm swing or the ring would be charged a little bit each night by magnetic induction in the bedroom. The more time you spend away from home, the less powerful the glow can be.
